The college is a premier instutition not only in terms of quality education/teaching but also in terms of results in University examinations. Many students over the years passed in Distinction in M.A. English & M.A. Economics. Economics Dept. has a rare distinction of producing gold medals in three successive years and one more in 2004-05.
Our college appeared for Assessment and Accreditation by NAAC on 27th and 28th of January 2004 and got a good rating i.e., B+. Post-accreditation of the college is due in 2009.
Post Graduation Courses in English and Economics were introduced in 1982 to help the students of these areas. This college was the first Government Degree College in Osmania University area to offer P.G.Courses. Five more PG Courses namely, M.Com., M.Sc. (Chemistry), M.Sc.(Mathematics), M.Sc.(Zoology), M.Sc.(Physics) were introduced in the college under self-financing system in 2001-02

Addition of another jewel in the crown of the college is Autonomous status. A committe of UGC visited our college on 30th Jan, 2004 in connection with autonomy and granted Autonomy to our college. The State Government issued GO MSNo.(HECE-12) on 15-01-2005 towards this end. There is a ovewhelming and positive response from the student community on Autonomy system.
The college has two-well equipped libraries i.e., one for UG and the other for PG Courses. There are about 40,000 books and 25 journals in these libraries. There is a spacious reading room in the library. It is supported with INFLIBNET facility.
Globalisation of the economy led to many employment opportunities in corporate sector. In order to impart communication skills and soft skills, which are very much essential for corporate sector, the Government devised Jawahar Knowledge Centre concept. Due to the constant effort and vision of Dr.K.Laksminarayana, Commissioner of Collegiate Education, JKC was granted to our college. JKC is doing a tremendous effort in procuring placement to our students in reputed companies.
